Time for a Change: Why I Upgraded My Tripod Head

After two decades behind the camera, I decided it was time for a change. The tripod head I had been using served me well—quick to adjust and perfect for those on-the-go moments. I could just pull the trigger, set my camera, and go. But as I’ve evolved as a photographer, I’ve realized it’s time for a shift. I wanted something that would slow me down, something that would encourage a deeper focus on composition, light, and detail.

So, I upgraded to a new tripod head. It arrived late Sunday afternoon, and despite the fading light, I couldn’t wait to give it a try. Instead of waiting for the perfect photoshoot, I decided to head out and explore my own neighborhood. No model, no fancy location—just me, my camera, and the quiet streets around me.

And that’s when I realized something: with this new head, I had to be more deliberate. I couldn’t rush through the process. Each shot required careful adjustment, each composition was a bit more thoughtful, and the result was exactly what I was hoping for—slower, more intentional photography.

It felt like a meditative experience, like I was reconnecting with the core of what drew me to photography in the first place. In a world of fast-paced, gear-heavy shoots, sometimes it’s the quiet moments that hold the most beauty.

As the sun set and the streets were bathed in soft twilight, I found myself capturing images that I wouldn’t have noticed before. It’s a reminder that no matter where you are—whether in your own neighborhood or an exotic location—there’s always something worth capturing if you take the time to look.

For future clients, this experience is a reflection of how I approach my work. I don’t just show up and snap a few quick shots. I take my time to understand the space, the light, and the emotion of the moment. Every frame is a story, and it deserves careful attention.

I’m excited for what’s next. With this new setup, I’m looking forward to capturing even more timeless moments with you—moments that make you stop, reflect, and truly see the world in a new way.
